Taste Of Columbia

The 4th Annual Taste of Columbia Columbia Yacht Club has a long history of providing sailing lessons for children and adults. Since our founding in 1892, we have been committed to promoting the sport of sailing and the sciences of seamanship and navigation. What better way to ensure the success of the sport than to train young sailors to learn teamwork and camaraderie on the water. Columbia’s Junior sailors grow up in the program and have gone on to compete for the Olympics as well as in local and national regattas. Some of our programs include sailing for inner city kids, educational seminars with internationally known sailing figures, and even a visit from the tall ship Niagara which was open to view for children in Park District programs. Sailing can be a very expensive sport. In order to keep our fleet in top condition, we are hosting the Taste of Columbia to benefit all our Junior Sailing programs. This event will not only include top chefs from the area, but will also have an array of wine, beer and dessert sponsors participating. Enhancing the evening of amazing food and drink, will be a silent auction and raffle for a bountiful display of incredible items donated by members, sponsors and employees alike. All proceeds go to the Junior Sailing School to help insure the experience of sailing for Chicago's youth.
